We can be united to Jesus, if we so choose.  We can be adopted into God's family.  Because Jesus chose to be our Shepherd, we may have access to all the riches
and provisions He has shared with us,
now and forever!

PROVISION
"I shall not be in want"
"I shall not be in want"
esus our Shepherd knows our every need.  Because He came to this earth as a man, He is one of us and He understands what we go through.  He has "walked in our moccasins."  While He was here on earth, He endured pain and hardships, accusations and persecution, sorrow and loss.  He subjected Himself to the same kinds of conditions that His flock endure so that He could be touched with the feelings of our problems and needs.
Because Jesus is our Shepherd,
we shall not be in want for temporal things.

Our temporal needs are for food, shelter, and clothing.  Jesus said, "Don't worry and say, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?'  The people who don't know God keep trying to get these things, and your Father in heaven knows you need them.  The thing you should want most is God's kingdom and doing what God wants.  Then all these other things you need will be given to you."  Matthew 6:31-33, NCV.

The Psalmist proclaimed:  "Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing.  The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing."  Psalm 34:9, 10, NIV.
Because Jesus is our Shepherd,
we shall not be in want for spiritual things.

Our spiritual needs are also for food, shelter, and clothing.  Jesus feeds us through His Word.  He declared, "I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. . . .The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life."  John 6:35, 63b, NIV.    We are sheltered from the world by His arms of love, and He gives us His robe of righteousness to take the place of our filthy garments.  His grace is sufficient for you and for me.  We may not possess all that we desire, but our Shepherd gives us all that is necessary to fulfill all our needs.
